Golf Results 2013 October 27

The US PGA Tour travelled to Malaysia last week, where America's Ryan Moore won the CIMB Classic in a playoff against Gary Woodland.

The compatriots finished Sunday's final round tied for the lead, with both players on 14-under-par at the end of eighteen holes. A sudden change in the weather caused play to be delayed overnight, forcing Moor and Woodland to wait until Monday morning until a winner could be decided.

After Sunday's lengthy delay, Moore was quick to seal his third PGA Tour victory on Monday at the first playoff hole. When Woodland's approach shot landed in the long grass, Moore seized his opportunity and landed an-almost perfect fairway shot which stopped just three feet short of the cup. A short putt was all that Moore needed to clinch the title and win the champion's purse of $1.26 million.

Woodland finished the tournament in second place, with Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Chris Stroud of the United States tied for third place, one shot behind the runner-up.

On the European Tour, the co-sanctioned BMW Masters was won by Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano.

The Spaniard dominated the field on Sunday, coming from one shot behind overnight to lead the field after gaining six strokes during the final round. Just as his competitors had all but given up on challenging him for a victory, Fernandez-Castano appeared to falter on the last hole, but two bunker shots and a double-bogey were not enough to erase the Spaniard's lead.

Finishing the tournament on 11-under par, the champion walked away with $ 7 million in prize money and a victory at the first of four events which will decide the 2013 Order of Merit winner. The Italian Francesco Molinari and Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee were a stroke behind in second place, while the American Luke Guthrie came third.
