McIlroy wins Race to Dubai
World number one Rory McIlroy added another accolade to his long list of golfing achievements on Sunday when he won the European Tour's Race to Dubai – a week before the Tour's final tournament in the UAE next week.
The top ranked 25-year-old won by default when his closest rivals in the Race failed to win the Turkish Airlines Open – the event was won by America's Brooks Koepka.
Koepka victorious in Turkey
The European Tour's second-last tournament of this season saw Koepka win his first title on a top-ranked golf tour.
Displaying a level head and solid form which allowed him to out-play the more experienced Ian Poulter for the title, Koepka carded an eagle at the thirteenth to begin his journey to victory on the back nine. The American had been level-pegging with Poulter on the front nine and despite a tense moment on the final hole, his rival was unable to force a playoff.
With his first regular tour win under his belt, Koepka is set to be a regular contender at events on the European and PGA Tours this season.
Hoffman in OHL Classic comeback
America's Charley Hoffman made the most of the good weather in Mayakoba, Mexico on Sunday to clinch the OHL Classic – his first US PGA Tour title in four seasons.
Hoffman began the final round three strokes behind overnight leader Danny Lee, but a stellar performance around the turn gave him the momentum he needed to take first place in the tournament. Hoffman's victory was won on the fairways and greens, with seemingly effortless and accurate approach shots and very few wasted putting opportunities on the back nine.
Lifting the trophy after finishing a stroke ahead of compatriot Shawn Stefani, with Lee a further stroke behind in third place, Hoffman celebrated his third career victory on PGA Tour. Judging by his performance on Sunday, this victory may mark the beginning of a comeback for one of the Tour's most dedicated players.
