These players, all under the age of 30, and all ranked in the top thirty on the WGR, look set to provide fans with some great efforts and exciting results during 2015:
The youngest runner-up in the history of the US Masters, 21 year old Jordan Speith is one of only two players to have won the U.S. Junior Amateur twice before turning pro in 2012. Spieth hails from Dallas, Texas and is no stranger to ‘going big’, having narrowly missed out on a Master’s victory during his debut attempt, winning the Emirates Australian Open and setting a new tournament record of 26-under-par for the Hero World Challenge in Florida, all during 2014.
The nephew of Pat Bradley, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, 28 year old Keegan Bradley has been a pro-golfer since 2011. His major successes so far include PGA Rookie of the year in 2011, after winning the PGA Championship on his first attempt. Since then he has achieved success in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
California born, Rickie fowler is an interesting character who always wears orange on the final day of a tournament in honour of his alma mater, Oklahoma State University. This 26 year old has been bubbling under during most of 2014, with top 5 finishes in all four majors, a second place in the Open Championship in Hoylake, tied for third in the PGA Championship and 10th place in the world golf rankings at the end of the year – certainly a player to keep an eye out for.
World number 13, Billy Horschel had a great year during 2014, placing the BMW Championship, The Tour Championship, and the FedEx Cup under his belt, along with becoming a father for the first time.
Twenty-four year old Rory McIlroy has to be included on every watch-list for the year, having ended 2014 in the number one spot in the world golf rankings. Will he be able to maintain the pace with some talented other under-30’s blazing in his trail?
Be sure to keep a look out for these young guns as they come blistering back onto the scene in 2015.
