Player Profile - Ross Fisher

Born in Ascot, Berkshire in 1980, Ross Fisher is one of England's bright stars in professional golf. The thirty year old has weathered the challenges of qualifying and contending championships all over the world since qualifying for the European Tour in 2006. Growing up, Fisher enjoyed the privilege of playing the Wentworth Golf Course in Surrey, near his school and family. This exposure to the game allowed the young Englishman to explore and learn golf from a young age.

In 2005, Fisher joined the Challenge Tour, a lesser-ranked tour for young golfers to cut their teeth on before moving on to the Tour. At the end of 2005, having finished 18th on the money list, he won admission to the European Tour. Fisher's first year on the tour was successful, though he did not win any championships until the following year when he won the KLM Open and finished the 2007 season 43rd on the order of merit. In 2008 Fisher was victorious again, winning the European Open on the Heritage Course at the London Golf Club. Placing well in several championships in 2009, he finished off that year by winning the Volvo Matchplay Championships. Last week, Fisher won the Irish Open at Killarney, two strokes ahead of Padraig Harrington, proving once again that he is up for any challenge.

Fisher is extremely talented and shows great sportsmanship as a golfer. At the age of 30, his best golf may well be ahead of him as he qualifies for an increasing number of championships and competitions. Still residing in England with his wife Joanne and daughter Eve Rose, the proud father should be as proud of his achievements on the course as he joins the ranks of Europe's best golfers.
