RICKIE FOWLER WINS

FIRST TIME IS A CHARM: PUMA® ATHLETE RICKIE FOWLER TAKES HOME FIRST PROFESSIONAL WIN

CARLSBAD, CA (October 9th, 2011) – Colorful PGA Tour sensation and PUMA Golf athlete, Rickie Fowler, took home his first professional win in his signature PUMA orange at the Kolon Korea Open this past weekend. Beating out a quality field including 2011 US Open champion, Rory McIlroy and 2009 PGA Championship winner, Y.E Yang, Rickie shot 16 under and beat the field by 6 strokes. Rickie complimented his stellar play by bringing his signature style to the course, including a look that paid homage to the South Korean flag. It was the first professional win for Fowler, who was named 2010 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and a member of the 2010 Ryder Cup team.

“Throughout the Korea Open, Rickie Fowler brought what PUMA Golf is all about to life -Look Better. Feel Better. Play Better,” said Bob Philion, President, COBRA PUMA GOLF. “Rickie is an extremely talented young player whose skill and style reinforces our commitment to bring more joy to the game of golf.”

“My swing felt really comfortable in the early rounds and I’m excited to have my first professional win under my belt,” said Rickie Fowler. “I think my PUMA wardrobe choices created some excitement in the gallery and on the greens. That buzz of the crowd always helps pump me up and the fans here in Korea have been fantastic.”

Fowler saw the top of the leader board right away, putting up a 4 under par to tie for first after the first round. Carding a round of 70 in the second round kept him at first in a 5 way tie alongside Rory McIlroy and YE Yang. His big push in the 3rd round saw 8 birdies on a bogey free card to tie for the course record of 8 under, putting him ahead of the pack by 4 strokes going into the final round. Dressed in his Sunday orange, Rickie maintained his pace and shot 68, securing the trophy and putting him ahead of second place, Rory McIlroy, by 6 strokes.

“This weekend has been a rush and a lot of fun,” said Fowler. “PUMA has been with me since the start of my professional career and I can’t wait to start rocking the new gear coming out in the next few months.”

Fowler is part of an impressive worldwide PUMA roster, including Lexi Thompson (who just became the youngest professional to win an LPGA or PGA Tour event), Johan Edfors, Anna Nordqvist, Hideto Tanihara, Jeehae Lee and many more names and faces around the globe. With a design concept that focuses on individuality, newness and color, the brand offers key elements of versatility, lightweight and innovative technology. The product is designed to embody the PUMA Golf mantra, Look Better. Feel Better. Play Better. PUMA Golf is a perfect mix of performance and lifestyle and is worn by PUMA’s pro golfers worldwide and continues to bring attitude and change to a tradition-laden sport.
