Player Profile: The Race to Dubai – Europe's Top Golfers of 2013

On Sunday the European Tour officially ended its 2013 season, with Sweden's Henrik Stenson winning the Race to Dubai by topping the European Order of Merit. This week's player profile takes a look at the 5 best European Tour players of the 2013 as they celebrate their achievements and prepare for the coming season.

Henrik Stenson
Sweden's golfing legend won the season-ending DP World Tour Championship to claim his only title for the 2013 season. However, impressive finishes at 17 European Tour events this season propelled Stenson to the number one spot.

Ian Poulter
England's Ian Poulter played 14 events on the European Tour this season, and despite a winless 2013 season the Briton accumulated sufficient points to claim second place in the Order of Merit. Like Stenson, Poulter made consistency his calling card this season with impressive results.

Justin Rose
The number three spot in the Race to Dubai went to the UK's Justin Rose. A victory at this year's US Open propelled Rose up the World Golf Rankings, along with strong finishes at several of the 13 European Tour events he played this season.

Graeme McDowell
Northern Ireland's highest-ranked player of 2013 won two events on the European Tour this season – the World Matchplay Championship and the French Open. These victories allowed McDowell to claim fourth place on the Order of Merit.

Jamie Donaldson
Donaldson won the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship this season to claim fifth position in the Race to Dubai. The Welshman played an impressive 23 tournaments this season, seizing every opportunity to climb the European Rankings.

Other Notable Players of 2013
With a Swede at the top of the Order of Merit and several players from the British Isles making up the remainder of the top 5, several other players weathered the competition to produce noteworthy results this season: France's Victor Dubuisson and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano of Spain took the number six and seven spots, with South Africa's Richard Sterne in eighth position on the Order of Merit. Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand took ninth place on the Order of Merit, with Denmark's Thomas Bjorn rounding off the top 10.
