The United States President's Cup Team

On Sunday the United States team retained their title as President’s Cup champions when they defeated the International team in Dublin, Ohio. Here is a brief look at some of the players who contributed to the American team’s victory.

Tiger Woods
The world number one was a natural choice for this year’s team, with his recent return to good form allowing him to reclaim the top spot in world golf and win the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year award this season. 37-year-old Woods was instrumental in the American team’s victory on Sunday as he outplayed the South African Richard Sterne to seal victory for his teammates.

Phil Mickelson
43-year-old Mickelson contested his 10th President’s Cup tournament last week, a tribute to his staying power in the world of professional golf. Despite his President’s Cup record of ten match ties, Mickelson proved a valuable asset to the American team during last week’s showdown.

Brandt Snedeker
Snedeker made his debut at this year’s President’s Cup after finishing the 2013 PGA Tour season with two victories to take his career total wins to 6. The 32-year-old weathered the competition at last week’s event and proved to be a good pick for the team.

Jason Dufner
Dufner played in the President’s Cup for the first time this year, but the 36-year-old brought a wealth of experience to the American team. Dufner is a former Ryder Cup team member and major champion with a solid game.

Steve Stricker
As the oldest member of the team, 46-year-old Stricker has enjoyed a successful season as he counts down the final years before retiring from the PGA Tour. The 12-time PGA Tour champion brought age and experience to the American team and made a valuable contribution to their win last week.

Hunter Mahan
31-year-old Mahan joined the team this year after finishing in the top two at the US and British Opens this season. With 5 PGA titles to his name, Mahan didn’t fail to impress at the President’s Cup.
