Top players to watch out for in 2015

As in any sport, golf outcomes are difficult to predict, with so many factors to consider when attempting to guess which players will maintain their game from one tee to the next, never mind tournament to tournament.

Based on current form, current champion Rory McIlroy seems a shoe in to win the US Masters in 2015 and is certainly a player to keep an eye on for all the other majors this year as well.

Tiger Woods may have his ups and downs but he remains one of golf’s most talented players and is worth watching every time he steps onto the course.

The master of bouncing back, Phil Mickelson looks all set for another return to glory after a mediocre year, especially in the light of his second place performance to Rory McIlroy in the PGA Championship.

Those in the know expect great things from Rickie Fowler in 2015, after his top five achievements in all four majors last year, which is certainly something to sit up and take notice of.

Ladies golf also promises some exciting play from last year’s stars.

Although Inbee Park shows no sign of faltering, she has vowed to focus more on family this year, so fans can be assured that up and coming women’s world number two, Lydia Ko, will be snapping at her heels, fresh off the victory train in the Race To CME Globe during November.

Michelle Wie has ended her four-year drought by once again rising to the top with victory in the US Women’s Open and taking home the Annika Major Award for the most consistent performance in the season’s majors. It certainly looks like Wie is making her way back to the top.

Stacy Lewis, with her string of victories in the Triple Crown of women’s golf - the Vare Trophy, Rolex Player of the Year, and money list title, is the first American to do so since Betsy King in 1993 and looks set to continue her winning ways.

These eight players, far from being the only contenders for glory this season, are certainly seen as the ones to beat, and look set to provide some memorable moments for fans during 2015.
