World Golf Results

On the US PGA Tour, the American Jason Dufner clinched his second title in three weeks when he beat fellow-American Dicky Pride to win the Byron Nelson Championship.

Dufner, who won his first PGA title this season at the New Orleans Classic, sunk a mammoth 25-foot birdie putt to claim victory in Irving, Texas. The final round took place in early summer weather, with Dufner further heating up the course with powerful drives and a masterful short game. After jostling with several other players for the lead during the back nine, Dufner took the lead after the 16th hole and was able to sustain it to the end of the round with apparent ease.

This second career victory in such a short period of time bodes very well for Dufner, who is largely self-taught and approaches the game of golf with a cool head which is often found only in more seasoned players. With a combination of skill and strategy, this talented player is set to make a splash in the world of professional golf in North America and beyond.

In Europe, the World Match Play Championship was won by Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium. After winning the 16th hole, the Belgian set his sights on victory, recovering from a minor slip-up on the following hole to beat Graeme McDowell at the final hole.

This victory marks the second time that Colsaerts has lifted the trophy on the European Tour, following his victory at the China Open last year. Having beaten the top-ranked McDowell the Belgian golfer may now have his sights set on the 2012 Race to Dubai, with the second half of the season providing ample opportunity for tournament victories and top-10 finishes. Golf fans will be eager to follow Colsaerts as his game continues to flourish on the European Tour.
